Uniforms 2024/25
Below you will find detailed information about the dress code for the 2024 – 2025 school year. For all purchasing needs, we implore you to visit, landsend.com. Blazer (With School Patch) – As a part of the winter uniform (also on special occasions), the student is to wear a black blazer with the approved school patch properly sewn on the left breast pocket. For blazers purchased outside of Lands End, you will need to purchase an SJA patch and have it sewed on. The jacket must not appear torn or worn, tattered or stained. It should have its full complement of buttons and pockets. Faculty members may permit the student to remove his blazer in the classroom. Unless otherwise stated by the administration, a student must always wear their jacket anytime he/she is outside the classroom. The blazer should not be overly adorned with pins and other items.
Button-down Shirt – The requisite uniform shirt is white in color and is a full button front dress shirt. The shirt may be short or long-sleeved.
Polo Shirt (With School Patch) – During warm weather in the fall and spring, the administration may permit students to wear either: a white dress shirt with a tie or an approved SJA monogrammed polo. ALL WHITE POLO SHIRTS MUST BE PURCHASED THROUGH SJA or Grey Polo with SJA crest from BSN School Store.
Sweaters – V-neck sweaters are permissible additions to the winter uniform. These sweaters must be in heather or light grey. No other sweaters will be permitted at any point.
Jackets – No jackets will be permitted at any point.
Pants – Male students are required to wear khaki dress pants. (Female students are permitted to wear khaki dress pants). Pants that are cut like jeans and contain rivets are not permitted. They may not be corduroy, baggy, have cargo pockets, or be made of jean-like material regardless of color. They should not have double stitching on the outer leg seams.
Skorts – Female students are required to wear khaki dress skorts. They may not be corduroy, baggy, have cargo pockets, or be made of jean-like material regardless of color. They should not have double stitching on the outer leg seams.
Shoes – All students are required to wear black or brown dress shoes only. The dress shoe must be able to hold a shine. Shoes that are worn/torn at the soles are not permissible. Shoes must be tied.
Tie – A tie must be worn by male students only; however, there is no regulation school tie. Ties that are excessively gaudy, overly wide, or generally inappropriate for dress attire are prohibited. Bow ties are permitted. As with the rest of the school attire, the tie should not be torn, tattered, or stained.
Belts – A black or brown belt will be worn at all times. Suspenders are not permitted.
Socks – Socks must be worn at all times by male students. Dress socks may vary in color and style. (Athletic socks prohibited)
Tights – White, grey, or black tights are to be worn by female students as part of their winter, spring, and fall outfit.
Hats – Hats are never permitted in school buildings.
Jewelry – Single ear piercing will be permitted. No facial piercings will be permitted. Excessive chains are not permitted. Rings (except the school rings) and bracelets are discouraged and may be prohibited. Students are not permitted to wear body-pierced jewelry during the school day.
Haircut/Shave – The student’s haircut must be clean-cut. Hair must be natural color (i.e. unnatural coloring is not permitted) or in good taste for both men and women. Hair must not be excessively long. Boy’s hair should not reach his ears or extend below the shirt collar and should be out of the face. Faddish haircuts are not permitted. Boys must be clean-shaven. A student not properly groomed will receive detention, and if the situation is not immediately correctable, they may be sent home.
Proper Appearance – Students should not wear inappropriate clothing or have inappropriate body art on display when they represent the school. The Dean of Student Life will make the determination of proper appearance and consequences for the improper appearance of students.
