We’re excited to share that we’re bringing back the Global Leadership Program to all SJA high school students!
Our Global Leadership Program (GLP), featuring Model UN (United Nations), focuses on real-world issues and provides diverse, interdisciplinary, cross-cultural experiences. Students perform ambassador roles while debating topics such as gender equality, climate action, global health, and more. The program is dedicated to empowering young Americans with tools and experiences that prepare them to be the next generation of global leaders.
WHEN: Classes begin on Monday, February 1st. Meetings will be held after school on Mondays and Tuesdays from 2:15 to 3:15pm.
DURATION: 16 weeks. Monday, February 1st through Monday, May 1st.
WHAT WE’LL DO: We’re bringing the world right to the classroom by:
- Connecting you with youth from various cultures
- Using history to understand living in an independent world
- Supporting continued awareness & action to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
- Virtually attending two GLP / Model UN conferences
- Hosting our own GLP / Model UN conference
WHY PARTICIPATE? Through public speaking, critical thinking, and in-depth research, GLP allows our students to grow as learners and as people by enriching their global affairs knowledge. You’ll have the chance to practice your leadership, public speaking and teamwork skills, as well as research capabilities, all of which are important for college and career success. Participating in GLP will also help students get into top colleges and universities. Showing that our students have focused on getting the best education possible, in and out of the classroom, is a major plus!
This is a great fit if you are interested in the following careers:
- Foreign Service State Dept
- International Business
- International Law
- International Non-Profit
- Journalism & Communications
- Any career featuring public speaking, interpersonal skills, or critical thinking
* You will receive high school social studies elective credits.
TEACHER: We’re honored to have Mr. Josh Aronovitch leading our new and improved GLP program! Mr. Aronovitch shared, “Participating in GLP activities during high school and college helped shape me as a person and leader. I wouldn’t have been accepted into Harvard Law without it. I’m looking forward to sharing my experiences and helping each of you grow and excel! This is a great opportunity to further differentiate St. Joseph Academy.”
