College Financial Planning Night

The College and School Counseling Dept. is proud to host a College Financial Planning Night for the families of SJA and the community of Hammonton!

This event is scheduled for Wednesday, May 3rd at 6:30 PM. We are lucky to have a former representative for the Higher Education Student Assistance Authority (HESAA.org), John Iacovelli and college financial planner, Dan Armas, on campus to present on a few different topics pertaining to saving for college!

If you read anything about paying for college these days, you may have seen a column or two in which the author lamented that “back in the day” a student could earn the year’s tuition by working a summer job.

Of course, those times are past. Given the rising cost of college, higher education has to be paid for overtime, like retirement or a home.  There are basically two options:

•    Save money in advance and earn interest, especially in tax-advantaged 529 plans
•    Borrow money during college and pay interest afterward
